The Band

PAUL BENFIELD is a Colorado native who picked up bass and guitar back in the 80s.  He is a space freak, currently working on ARTEMIS, NASA’s next lunar landing missions.  Distractions, when time permits, include muscle cars (one does actually run), backpacking, and volleyball. Paul lives in Morrison, Colorado, in the shadow of Red Rocks, the world’s greatest concert venue, with his wife and two sons.

Todd Helmick (also a Colorado native) grew up in Northglenn, CO and attended Colorado State University in Ft Collins.  In high school, he was the singer and bass player in a three-piece garage band called “Trivial Faults.”  In college he played bass guitar in another alternative band called “The Nixons.”  As middle age encroached, he was the band manager for a 14 piece big band that played in jazz clubs throughout Colorado.  Todd plays bass, guitar, trumpet and sings, and loves jazz, blues, classic rock and ‘80s alternative.  In his spare time, he loves to travel, scuba, snorkel, fly fish, run, ride his bicycle and is the President of the Denver HO Model Railroad Club.  He currently lives in Centennial, CO and has two sons away at college.   Although Todd has no immediate plans for a solo career, he is working on a Simon & Garfunkel themed musical, set in the Battlestar Galactica universe called “The Sound of Cylons.”

A Littleton, CO native, SCOTT NASON played in an original heavy-alternative band in Fort Collins called Supernaut, where he recorded his first album. He then parlayed his love of music and a business degree to purchase a musical instrument store in Littleton called Music Go Round. Through the store Scott became very involved in the local music scene, putting on battles-of-the-bands, hosting clinics with national musicians, donating gear to local high school music programs, and got to play and hang out with a ton of the best local musicians in the state. After 21 years, he sold the store. (It’s still one of the best shops in town!) Scott lives in Highlands Ranch with his wife and two kids.

LEN VLAHOS is the former guitar player and co-songwriter for Woofing Cookies, a college-radio-chart-topping punk pop band from the 1980s. Len is also the published author of five novels for young adults, including The Scar Boys, a punk rock coming of age story inspired by his experience touring with the Cookies. He’s also the former owner of the Tattered Cover Bookstores. When he’s not chillaxing with his wife and two sons, you can find Len at local ice rinks in Metro Denver, stinking up the ice as a legendarily bad adult league hockey player
